Juventus’ signing of Cristiano Ronaldo is already paying off handsomely without him once kicking the ball in anger.
The Italian giants nabbed perhaps the biggest signature on offer in the current transfer window when the 33-year-old made the move from Real Madrid for a reported fee of €118 million.
On Monday, the Portuguese megastar was officially unveiled as a Juve player at the Allianz Stadium in Turin and, within 24 hours, his famous number seven jersey has reportedly sold over 500 000 units.
This meant that in less than 48 hours, Juventus managed to recoup €46.8 million of his transfer fee from merchandise sales alone.
Ronaldo, on his own, is set to beat the figure of shirts sold by the club for the whole of the 2016/2017 season, when 850 000 Juventus shirts were sold.
After nine years at Real, who he recently helped claim a third consecutive Champions League title, the former Man United man said he moved to the Serie A to challenge himself and not rest in his comfort zone.
“The numbers are there, everyone knows what I’ve done for football, but I’m ambitious, and I like challenges,” Ronaldo said.
“I didn’t want to stay in my comfort zone after what I did for Manchester and Real Madrid. I want to leave my mark on Juve.”
Ronaldo is set to pocket a reported €30 million a season, and the Turin giants will hope having his talents in their ranks will usher them to their first Champions League title in over twenty years.
Juventus were knocked out by Real Madrid in the quarterfinals of the 2017/18 edition, with Ronaldo playing a pivotal role in the Spanish giants’ victory. This after falling at the final to the same team in the previous season.

A man in his 30s was lynched this morning by an angry mob in Urua Ekpa Junction in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.
The mob had pursued the suspect after making away with the vehicle, which was packed in front of a fuel station, few kilometers from AKBC Transmitting Station, Ntak Inyang.
An elderly man who claimed ownership of the motorcycle, said he was shocked when he watched the deceased unlocking his vehicle with the aid of a master key, prompting him to inform people round the vicinity,who helped caught the suspect and set him ablaze.
Before men of the State Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS could arrive the scene, the mob had already poured petrol on the suspect burning him beyond recognition.
For about an hour, the Urua Ekpa axis of the every busy Calabar Itu Highway was barricaded by curious onlookers who rushed to catch the glimpse of the deceased.
An eyewitnes, Itoro Umoh identified the suspect describing him as "serial robber" whose stock in trade is to steal motorcycle packed at the fuel station by people, who came from Itu and Ibiono Ibom Local Government Areas for business in the Capital City.
Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Odiko MacDon confirmed the incident, describing the jungle justice as unfortunate and encouraged people to always report criminal matters to the Police instead of taking the law in their hands.
At the time of filing in this report, the body of the deceased, which was a Mecca of sort, was yet to be evacuated.

A 25-year-old man Oladimeji Tukur, was today brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’Court in Lagos, for allegedly threatening and extorting his former girlfriend.
He demanded N60,000 from his ex-girlfriend, Oredola Kayode, threatening that if she failed to give him the money, she would not graduate in the institution where she was studying.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Komolafe, in her ruling, granted Tukur bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum, who must be a blood relation of the accused after he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Police Prosecutor, Kehinde Omisakin had told the Court that Tukur committed the offences between June 3 and June 9 within Lagos Magisterial District.
She said the accused carried out his threat by sending various text messages via phone no. +15133371194 to the complainant.
The offences contravened Sections 302 and 303 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (Revised)
Further hearing in the case has been fixed Sept. 3.
Innoson Vehicles Upgrades From Manual To Automated Production; Set To Increase From 10,000 to 60,000 Capacity Per Annum.
Innoson Vehicles has concluded plans to upgrade some sections of its plant from manual to automated production and this comes with the introduction of robot technology in the plant.
Speaking during the company's management meeting today, June 28th 2018, the Chairman of Innoson Vehicles, Chief Dr Innocent Chukwuma OFR, said it has become necessary the factory introduces new vehicle production lines which will see its vehicle annual production rise from 10,000 units to 60,000 units per annum. The Chairman further stated that some sections of the plant will be upgraded from manual production to automated production which will involve the use of robots. This maybe a first for Nigeria.
Chief Chukwuma further reassured that Innoson Vehicles will continue to employ international best practices in the production of its vehicles and which will compare very favorably in terms of durability, fuel economy, and safety.
"Innoson Vehicles greatest achievement is not behind them neither is it with them now. Innoson Vehicles best is yet to happen. As consumer expectations continue to change and new technologies keep coming out, so will it continue to improve on its vehicles''.

Following the lethargic 2-0 loss to Croatia in their opening game of the 2018 World Cup, the Super Eagles have been adjudged as the 29th best of the 32 teams participating at the World Cup after the first round of games.
British newspaper Daily Telegraph, in an appraisal of all the teams, rated Nigeria has only better than Saudi Arabia which lost the opening game of the competition 5-0 to host country Russia and debutants Panama who lost 3-0 to Belgium.
Of Nigeria’s listless performance, the paper wrote thusly: ” A horrible performance from a group of players who didn’t seem to grasp quite how important their opening game at the World Cup was. Whether the manager’s fault or those in green shirts, there was no urgency, no great surge to try and rescue a point, an isolated striker and full-backs who weren’t allowed to get forward. Nigeria should be so much better than this.”
Spain and Portugal, who played out an enthralling 3-3 draw came in first and second while Mexico, which defeated reigning champions Germany were rated third.
Brazil, who were held by Switzerland and England, late 2-1 winner over Tunisia round up the top five in the ratings.
Nigeria will play her second game on Friday against Iceland at the Volgograd Arena. Only an outright win can keep the Super Eagles hopes of staying in the competition alive.
